Full job description
The Cafe Manager is responsible to ensure the seamless running of the Whitebark Cafe in the most efficient and effective manner delivering the highest possible standards of service, whilst being pro-active in maintaining and improving profitability. Reporting to the General Manager. This is a maternity leave position.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

· Build and maintain an efficient team of employees committed to consistently exceeding guest expectations. Ensure all employees are well trained on their responsibilities and are given supervision and motivation on all aspects of their work. Manage all employees’ performance in line with job descriptions, giving regular feedback, appraisals and conducting formal performance reviews. Create and maintain an appropriate staffing plan.

· Maintain appropriate stock of supplies and place order with suppliers as required. Review quality and cost of supplies regularly, making recommendations for changes as necessary.

· Be engaged in the café industry and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

· Forecast potential revenues and costs & develop a departmental budget. Control costs without compromising standards and customer experience. Track and report on revenues and expenses regularly. Create and support implementation of revenue generation initiatives. Create, deliver and measure promotional activities, including staff incentives.

· Protect the health, safety and well being of our staff & guests through development of Health & Safety Guidelines. Ensure a safe workplace by identifying and reporting hazards and taking corrective action as required. Be a health and safety leader, and maintain knowledge of all health and safety guidelines, including food safety.

· Ensure customer requests and feedback, both verbal and written, are responded to promptly and professionally.

· Regularly communicate with other Banff Aspen Lodge departments and maintain working relationships.
