Bylaw Enforcement Officer

One year term position starting May 2016

Bylaw Services interact with and assist The Town of Banff's residents and visitors every day and in many different ways. From education to enforcement, responsibilities are diverse, and no two days are ever the same. We are a service-oriented department, with a focus on responding and mediating professionally, focusing on solutions and ensuring public safety.

During this term you will spend the majority of your day outside, on foot patrolling our downtown core and nearby parks and amenity areas. As a highly visible, uniformed ambassador for the Town of Banff, you are the face of the department's commitment in “Fostering community respect, safety and the beauty of our town.”. You engage in every situation as part of your job – conflict is an opportunity to educate and you thrive on delivery of information by demonstrating tact, diplomacy and most importantly, confidence. The main focus of this one-year term enforcement position will be to carry out downtown parking enforcement to enhance parking turnover with a goal of ensuring that our visitors find parking in the downtown area quickly and easily.

Ideally, you have completed a post-secondary education program in law enforcement or criminal justice related field. You have the physical ability to spend most of your work hours on foot and in all elements at Mother Nature's call. Previous work or volunteer experience in an enforcement-related field and familiarity with local government functions are very desirable qualities in this position.
