Maintenance Technician

Reports To: General Manager & Supervisor

Position Summary:

As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible to deliver exceptional guest experiences and a positive overall impression of the property by proactively resolving maintenance issues to provide clean and comfortable rooms for guests. You are responsible to perform general building, pool, and property maintenance. You need the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and have a strong understanding of general maintenance and safety requirements to effectively deliver 100% guest satisfaction standards.

Specific Duties – Culture and Safety:

Observe and practice all safety and security policies that impact the welfare of you, the guests, the team members, and the condition of the facility
Supervise the pool area for safety and cleanliness
Maintain key card safety through proper sign out procedures and protocols
Specific Duties – Presentation and Image:

Always present a clean and professional image by adhering to the parameters in the dress code policy
Live the We Create Smiles philosophy and training to provide a welcoming experience to all guests in all interactions
Specific Duties – Guest Experience and Operations:

Apply the “We Create Smiles” experience standards to every guest interaction
Provide courteous assistance to guests and team members, reinforcing Canalta’s values, policies, and procedures
Greet and provide assistance to every guest as they enter the zone of legendary hospitality
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance to the LEAN program (stock rooms and maintenance tool cart)
Perform outside maintenance duties as per Canalta standards
Guest rooms 100% maintained 100% of the time
Maintain safe swimming pool standards according to provincial health and safety regulations
Maintenance duties to include but not limited to, drywall repairs, painting, changing lightbulbs and fixtures, preventative maintenance, minor plumbing and mechanical, electronic door locks, wallpaper and carpet repair, tile repair/replacement and furniture set up
Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment
Co-ordinate trades people to provide repairs, assist with deliveries and new equipment
Communicate daily with the General Manager and complete required paperwork (logbooks, checklists, spreadsheets)

Maintain the highest of cleanliness standards in the public areas, which will include but not limited to windows, sweeping, and mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting, changing garbage
Perform the duties as required
Specific Duties – Training and Development:

Complete all training by assigned due date
Advocate for training when deficiencies in performance are identified
Complete team member performance feedback sessions as scheduled and correct any deficiencies through goal setting and training

Essential Education & Skills that are Required:

A minimum of 1 year of experience in maintenance or related field
Pool operators’ certificate
Strong working knowledge of technology (computers, televisions, internet modems, etc.)
High aptitude for safety
Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
High level of integrity, a positive attitude, and be a coachable team player
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Typical Physical Activity:

This position poses significant mental, physical, and visual demands (the ability to multi-task, standing/walking for long periods, working under pressure, and be self-motivated). This position requires the ability to bend, push, pull, kneel, and crouch and lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds.
