Junior Sous Chef/ Sous Chef


Directly translating to ‘under the chef’, the Junior Sous Chefs and Sous Chefs reports to the Executive Chef and is a monumental part in leading and motivating the kitchen team. They use their exceptional communication and leadership skills to bring the team together, train kitchen staff, and liaise with the front of house team. Leading by example the Junior Sous Chefs and Sous Chefs are willing to jump in wherever needed in the kitchen and plays an important role in the overall preparation, cooking, presentation, and quality of all dishes that leave the kitchen.


What You’ll Do


While you’re very focused on producing quality food experiences for our guests, leading the kitchen team, and hiring amazing people to join our family – you’re also a jack of all trades in relation to kitchen and people management.
Using your eye for the details you work with the Executive Chef to maintain kitchen organization, efficiency, and supervises all food preparation and ensures presentation, quality and standards are met.
You don’t quite predict the future, but you do make sure cooking stations are stocked with what is needed for prime operation hours, and coordinates ordering of supplies to meet kitchen needs, on budget and on time.
Leads the kitchen team with the Executive Chef, providing guidance, training, and recognizes opportunities for improvement of kitchen team members
This role helps keep the kitchen going; managing food and product ordering, keeping detailed records, minimizing waste, and verifying that food storage is consistently well-managed and meets all regulatory and corporate standards.
You’re an important part of quality assurance, verifying the food storage system is working appropriately and that all staff understands the importance of having food products properly dated and organized.
As a leader within BHC, you’ll also be an ambassador of our employer brand, always being on the lookout for top talent and assisting with hiring amazing people to join the family, specifically on the kitchen team.

What You’ll Need


Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, kitchen environment, and while you may be feeling stressed on the inside you remain cool, calm and collected for the team.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff and implementing kitchen procedures
You need to not only be an amazing team player but also have a knack for bringing others together to work towards a common goal
Connecting with people and building trusting relationships comes easy to you
Understanding of the importance of communication and workplace culture
Collaborative working style and team focus
Excellent communication skills
Willing to take a step back to look at things from other perspectives and be open to a different way
Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

What We’re Looking For


We understand you want to get outside as much as possible, but you’ll need to have flexibility in your schedule for us.
5 years experience in the back of house with a minimum of at least 2 of those years in a supervisory kitchen role
You have your Food Safety certification and know how to use it
