As a café attendant you will “Take care of Banff” by helping us launch a new venture at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre. You will work in all facets of the operation of a small café including: assisting with food preparation, bar service and more. This is a hands-on role where your past experience in the front and back of house food services blends with your enjoyment of interacting with a team and our customers. The Fenlands is the hub of a variety of winter events and activities for facility rental clients and community members including membership leagues, hockey tournaments, curling bonspiels, skating, special events and more.

Position duties are designed to be successfully accomplished within the weekly hours and include;

Welcoming customers and answering questions or making recommendations on menu offerings in a helpful and friendly manner.
Taking and processing orders on the Point-of-Sale System, including accepting payments.
Prepping, cleaning, sanitizing and restocking work and dining areas and emptying waste receptacles.
Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, washing cutlery and dishes, etc. as needed.
Ensuring compliance with hygiene and sanitation guidelines.
Assisting with food and beverage preparation including seasoning, measuring ingredients, packaging, boiling, cutting and chopping and occasionally preparing some dishes.
Supplying, dispensing and mixing beverages, cleaning bar areas and equipment, preparing for bar service, taking beverage orders and serving drinks.
Assisting the Café Supervisor with inventory management (including inventory counts, labelling and/or reporting on low-quantity food and beverage items, etc.)
If you are interested in helping us kick off this new Café service at The Fenlands, your cover letter and resume will describe your specific experience in food and beverage services and confirm your Alberta Food Safety Certification (preferably Alberta ProService and ProTect Security). As this position includes serving alcohol, applicants must demonstrate they are 18 years or older.

The Fenlands is a seven-day-a-week operation and this position will be scheduled between 10–20 hours per week, including evening and weekend shifts. The wage ranges between $20.00 and $23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
