Job Description

Public Relations Manager

Under the leadership of the Regional Director of Public Relations and the Director of Sales & Marketing, Fairmont Banff Springs, the primary responsibility of this role includes executing on strategic PR tactics that will increase destination awareness and maximize revenue generation for the resort.

In conjunction with Canada’s Western Mountain Collection and Fairmont corporate office, the successful candidate will also specialize in leveraging this world-renowned property’s unique selling proposition and maximizing exposure through strategically vetted PR, travel media and influencer opportunities, and supporting activations for maximum amplification. This role will also lead the management of brand reputation and crisis communications, as well as maintaining strong alignment with marketing to ensure brand consistency and messaging.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Regional Director of Public Relations (RDPR), with a strong dotted line to the Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) at Fairmont Banff Springs, this role will deliver on aligned PR strategies in order to stimulate and support sales initiatives and overall hotel revenue objectives.
Coordinate individual and group travel media familiarization trips.
Host key travel media on property; evenings and weekends as required.
Contribute to constructive teamwork and a collaborative environment with the marketing team.
Support content creator collaborations alongside the marketing manager, as well as the resort’s influencer marketing strategy, including vetting, setting KPIs, and following-up in accordance with resort policies and needs.
Coordinate photo and film shoots on-site with traditional media as necessary.
Act as spokesperson for the resort and as a member of the crisis management team.
Manage media inquiries and interview requests, including drafting of key messaging and ensuring spokesperson readiness (e.g. GM).
Provide PR amplification for on-property special event activations, including execution of relevant media launches.
Leverage existing travel media relationships, and cultivate new contacts within the Canadian, US and target international market networks.
Attend relevant media marketplaces as required.
Develop and distribute press releases, and support internal guest / Heartist communications as needed.
Collaborate with regional PR team to maintain an updated centralized media database.
Update and maintain resort press kit, pressroom, and story starters. Keep corporate PR and agencies informed of all news.
Update regional media calendar on a weekly basis.
Submit monthly, mid-year, and annual PR reports to hotel executive team and corporate office, and compile PR updates as needed.
Pursue key influential awards and execute nominations accordingly.
In coordination with the DOSM, undertake other tasks and duties that may be required from time to time at the resort.
Coordinate photo and film shoots on-site when necessary.
Other dutities as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

3-5 years’ public relations and communications experience in the luxury hotel sector preferred
Established database of Canadian, USA and international travel media & influencer contacts
Excellent writing skills
Crisis communications and online reputation management experience required
Experience utilizing Cision or other media monitoring and distribution platforms
Experience with influencer analysis tools, like Hype Auditor
Ability to prioritize numerous projects with competing deadlines
Articulate, professional, mature, self-motivated and energetic team-player
Highly responsible and reliable
University / College degree in a related discipline an asset
