Job Description

Assistant Chief Steward - Stewarding (Dishwashing)

Are you a confident leader with experience of managing up to 90 colleagues? We are looking for someone to become an addition to our “Castle in the Rockies” and take on the lead role of an Assistant Chief Steward. The Stewarding department is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and order for all of the kitchens, dish areas and related backspaces for our dining outlets and Conference Centre space

What you will be doing:

Lead, teach, coach and inspire a team of colleagues and leaders in a 24 hour operation
Set and achieve departmental and supervisory goals in the areas of the budget of capital, labor, and operating expenses. Health & Safety, Sustainability, and the Employee Engagement Survey
Assist the Chief Steward in managing procurement and inventory, minimizing expenses and increase employee productivity
Conduct quarterly china, glassware, silverware inventory and document variances and discrepancies
Conduct audits with local health inspector and (EHC) Environmental Health Consultancy auditor representative in the absence of the Chief Steward
Uphold all hygiene and sanitation regulations, ensuring that all equipment in the kitchens and dishwashing areas are clean and in good working order
Ensure colleagues are trained and fallow ALLSAFE health and safety protocols
Conduct Audits and Performance Discussions for Stewarding Supervisors and Colleagues, ensuring that all Progressive Corrective Action forms are completed correctly and forwarded to the Chief Steward
Foster an environment of cooperation within the department, and between other departments within the hotel, encouraging participation and input from all colleagues, while promoting professional work habits
Conduct audits and gain feedback from the employee engagement survey process and put action plans into place and ensure goals are met.
Input work orders on items needing repair
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Proven track record as an administrator, trainer and developer, and a team player with strong communication and organizational skills with all departments.
Demonstrated ability to build a strong Stewarding team through recruitment, training and organization
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications
Valid WHMIS Certificate required
Class 5 Driver’s License, with a comfort level driving a company vehicle of up to 1-ton. Must provide an updated drivers abstract.
3 years previous supervisory experience in a fast paced hotel Stewarding Department
