Job Description

A Mixologist at Fairmont Banff Springs is responsible for the development and creation of all specialty drinks. Our mixologist take pride in each drink that leaves their bar; with a critical eye for detail, extensive beverage knowledge, and a flare for showmanship. This role will oversee the bartending of the Rundle Bar.

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the F&B Leadership Team. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Cocktail Creation: Develop and create new and unique cocktail recipes that reflect the establishment's theme, style, and customer preferences.
Ingredient Selection: Curate a selection of premium spirits, liqueurs, syrups, bitters, and fresh ingredients to ensure high-quality cocktails.
Bar Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, as well as proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of spirits, mixers, and garnishes.
Training: Train and mentor other bartenders on the art of mixology and the creation of specialty cocktails.
Menu Development: Assist in developing and updating the cocktail menu to keep it fresh and in line with the latest trends.
Ordering and monitoring inventory (i.e. daily orders, managing par levels, recording wastage/spillage/transfers, monthly inventory counts)
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a fast paced restaurant/bar environment
Must have Alberta Pro-serve Certification prior to applying
Previous point of sale system experience is required.We currently use Silverware
In-depth knowledge of various types of spirits, liqueurs, cocktail techniques, and the history of cocktails.
While not always required, having a mixology certification or relevant training can be an advantage.
Strong creative and innovative skills to invent new and exciting drinks.
Precision in measuring and mixing ingredients, garnishing, and presentation.
Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with patrons.
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Schedule flexibility, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays
Must be able to lift and carry up to 80+lbs (keg) and be able to constantly stand and walk throughout shift
